Summerhouses have been working in schools in Trafford as both a Creative Practitioner and Agent for Creative Partnerships. At St Ambrose College students have developed a ‘Trading Card’ game that will be used annually to engage Year 7 in the ethos and values of the school as part of their induction. The students arrived at the idea for the project through Appreciative Inquiry [AI] which is a hallmark of Summerhouses approach to developing student-led work. Deputy Head “Janice has supported the school at all stages of the project her professional approach was key to the successful completion of the project.”

Janice has successfully completed a six month contract co-ordinating the Visual Arts Development Network in Pennine Lancashire – POPL ‘Perspectives of Pennine Lancashire’. The network was instigated by Arts Council England to develop partnerships and projects between the heritage sector and local authorities. The network consists of visual arts organisations, heritage organisations, local authorities, Renaissance in the Regions and the Arts Council. Janice strengthened the network through facilitating participative meetings and establishing a support structure that enabled network members to build relationships, develop shared ideas and plan a visual arts programme. From the networks ideas Janice put together applications to G4A ‘Grants for the Arts' and Lancashire County Council. Both applications were successful and the network now has a total of £70,000 for a visual arts programme and further network development over the next 16 months.
