Portfolio: our range of approaches

OUT OF INTEREST

We like to share the interesting stuff that we come across. Here is a selection:

Visual Thesaurus

If you do a lot of writing and occasionally get stuck for words - this is a great little tool and the graphical approach is really helpful.

The Core Group: who really matters.

This is an excellent book by Art Kleiner that explains the internal politics of organisations. Understanding how to identify core group members is interesting - they are not always who you think they might be!

The Happiness Equation

Better known as a writer on leadership, Manfred F Kets deVries has delivered a great little book [for only £6] full of inspiring meditations on what authentic happiness is. A highly recommended read.

Quotation

deVries includes in his book above the following quotation from Søren Kierkegaard.

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards"

This prompts interesting thoughts about the value of reflection for learning and the need for that to be balanced with action [living forward]. We feel a good balance nicely captures the Summerhouses approach and our VALUES!

comm RTC-2.jpgDialogue...... is the vital ingredient of all the services we offer to individuals and organisations. We describe it as the lifeblood of your organisation.  It is something so fundamental that it is often not considered or is taken for granted. Many of the high profile failures in the recent credit crunch were the result of dangerously poor dialogues in those organisations. We know that:
improving dialogue is the key to improved performance; increased creativity and motivation and reduced conflict resulting in better service and increased & sustainable profits.

Our New Website

We will be soon be celebrating our 4th year in business. We felt it was time to update the website with our new services  and  show the range of clients we have now worked with. We have developed case studies to illustrate how we work and all the photographs are from actual events. Fancification did such a great job of the original that we had no hesitation in asking them to design the new one. Click here to have a look around and we welcome any feedback you might have.

Mediation & Resolving Conflict - Employment Act 2009

Fotolia_8333651_L.jpgThe new employment act that came into force in April requires employers to have used some form of conflict resolution. If they do not then a tribunal could award up to 25% additional costs!

Using independent mediation can:

  • Save time
  • Save money
  • Restore relationships

See our web page & resources on conflict resolution and use the contact form to get your organisation on to our priority listing - this means that we will respond to any mediation request from you within 24 hours.

We are also offering a free session for your managers that can be added into an existing meeting and will make them aware of the different ways of resolving conflicts and their relative costs and benefits.

Team Agreements

creativity.jpgHave you ever wondered why so much training does not get implemented?

Training courses for individuals don't make much sense when collaborative working is the objective. They go on training courses for better ways of working then return to work and try to sell it to the team. Not easy, and most times they give up and fall back into their old ways. But what if you could try out different ways of working and the leader and the whole team agree on how to implement and refine a unique approach that really works?

This is more cost effective and more sustainable  Read about our Team Agreements to understand the difference it could make for your team or organisation.

Work better and smarter and save money in the process!
